Aspen–Pitkin County Airport (Sardy Field): Use the local RFTA bus or your hotel’s airport shuttle rather than paying for a private transfer: downtown Aspen is roughly 10–20 minutes away, and local service in the Aspen/Snowmass area is generally free. A taxi/rideshare is quickest for luggage or a late arrival—allow roughly 10–15 minutes and about $20–35—but availability can be thin after flights bunch up. ASE is exceptionally convenient but small; weather can halt operations, so do not book a nonrefundable same-day connection out of Denver.
Denver International Airport: DEN is the sensible backup airport, not an easy city transfer. Prebook a shared mountain shuttle to Aspen (typically about 4½–5½ hours door to door, roughly $100–150+ one way) or rent a car and allow about four hours in clear conditions via I-70 and Glenwood Springs. Do not count on Independence Pass as a year-round shortcut: it closes seasonally, and winter driving on the I-70 route can be slow or hazardous.
Eagle County Regional Airport: For many winter itineraries, EGE is the more practical alternative to Denver: prebook a scheduled/shared shuttle to Aspen, usually around 1½–2 hours depending on road conditions and stops, commonly about $70–120+ one way. It has far fewer flights than DEN, so it is best when the airfare and schedule work—not something to build a tight itinerary around.
