Cancún International Airport: For downtown, take the ADO airport coach to Terminal de Autobuses ADO Cancún: roughly 30–50 minutes depending on terminals and traffic, about MX$140–240. It is the sensible default; buy from the official ADO desk/app, not from a curbside transfer hawker. The terminal is downtown, not in the Hotel Zone—continue by R-1/R-2 bus, taxi, or rideshare. For a Hotel Zone resort with luggage or an awkward late arrival, pre-book a shared shuttle; airport taxis are rarely the value choice.
Terminal de Autobuses ADO Cancún: This is the useful intercity arrival point, just off Av. Tulum downtown. ADO connects the airport (about 30–50 minutes), Playa del Carmen (about 1 hour 20 minutes), Valladolid (about 2 hours) and Mérida (about 4 hours). Hotel Zone buses run on Av. Tulum behind/near the terminal; use a metered/price-agreed taxi or rideshare only for the final leg if the bus is inconvenient.
Tren Maya Cancún Airport station: The Tren Maya network serves the airport, but it is not a downtown Cancún station. Treat it as an option for onward travel around the peninsula rather than a clean city-centre transfer; allow extra time for airport/station access and connections. For most arrivals headed into Cancún, the ADO coach remains simpler.
